Farmers in critical drought-stricken areas receive R12 million in relief Farmers eligible for drought relief in parts of the Central Karoo, Garden Route and West Coast Districts received R12.2m in fodder relief. More than 1 000 farmers located in extremely critical drought-stricken areas and eligible for drought relief, received fodder support to the value of R12.2 million. On Tuesday, 11 May, Western Cape MEC of Agriculture Ivan Meyer said 1 115 farmers in parts of the Central Karoo, Garden Route and West Coast Districts received fodder relief. VELD IN PARTS OF CENTRAL KAROO DETERIORATED According to the MEC, based on the latest bi-annual veld assessment completed in March 2021, the Western Cape Department of Agriculture has categorised the veld as critical or extremely critical in parts of the Central Karoo, Garden Route and West Coast Districts.

He had to create positions in the butchery for three employees who were running the tavern to avoid job losses.
