Noida to complete half stretch of Bhangel elevated road by end of Feb

Noida: In a major development that will benefit lakhs of Noida residents, it has been decided that the Bhangel elevated road will have direct access from Vishwakarma Marg, which has now become one of the city’s busiest traffic arteries. The Noida Authority has started work on finalising the cost estimates for building two loops at the intersection. The six-lane elevated road is being built between Aghapur and NSEZ turn in Sector 82. Due to the presence of busy markets in Aghapur, Chhalera, Barola, Salapur and Bhangel, it currently takes 45-60 minutes to reach the NSEZ turn from Noida Golf Course. So, in June 2020, the Authority started work on building a Rs 468 crore worth 4.5km-long elevated road to bring down the commute time to half between the two ends.

Noida: Two labourers were injured after a frame built to support a pillar at the Bhangel elevated road construction site tilted and fell near Barola on Friday morning. The cage-like structure with iron rods had been erected on Thursday night. Veerpal, a security guard deployed at the spot, told TOI that the two labourers tried running away as the structure started tilting but it fell before they could escape. After the incident, Noida Authority issued a show cause notice to the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Limited, which has taken up the construction, and imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on it for “negligence”. a senior manager from the authority, who is in-charge of the area, has also been issued a notice seeking an explanation.

However, Noida Authority officials are confident both these projects could be thrown open for the public in January next year. Rajiv Tyagi, chief general manager of the Authority, said regular monitoring had resulted in these two projects getting fast-tracked. “We are going to deliver both the projects well ahead of their deadlines. Regular visits to the sites have compelled the contractors to put their workers on the job in shifts. Work is going on round-the-clock,” Tyagi said.
