Earning money. If the economy is growing their wages are going up. So it was important not just the issue but to put it in context as a bigger picture. Without dynamic scoring, putting things in that bigger context just doesnt happen. Thats what was divent about this debate and will be different going forward. Speaking of going forward, if i understood the quote correctly, your successor paul ryan has said that your legislation will not be the blueprint but it will be a marker. Yes. Youve chosen to leave. Yes. And your chairmanship was up for term limits. But how does that make you feel . Do you expect your plan to be the blueprint for the new congressman . First of all, paul ryan is on the ways and Means Committee. He is the incoming chairman so hell be succeeding me. He was part of putting that plan together. He knows it very well. And, look. A new committee, new congress, theyre going to look at things in a different way. We did learn things through that process that you might adjus
Shelter, so if they encounter an individual that has a language other than spanish and chinese then they can reach out to the department and ask for Interpretation Services to work with the clients. They do that often. On the single adult side in some cases the clients are only there one night or up to 90 days with a 30 day extension so they could be actually there for 120 days. If a client is seeking services because they cannot speak to the staff in their language the staff at the shelter can call our department and our department will deploy language Interpretation Services for them, but 10,000 we probably spend double that on the family side because 10,000 isnt going to even make a dent into Language Services for the shelters. Seems like there is a disconnect between like the situation you are describing and what the committee is saying because it seems like the committee is saying that if we allocate 10,000 that somehow the gap that is not there will be filled. And i believe our p
Runs out of tokens . Well, i think in this report it just referred to United Council not having tokens on site. The other shelters do have tokens on site and theyre given out monthly at the shelter directors meeting so it was just one reference in this report six months ago that United Council didnt have tokens. And giving the tokens at the beginning or once a month but by the end of that month do they still have adequate tokens . Yes, they have them available or if they need more they can always get more. Can i ask the committee to do a survey of these specifically about tokens . I would feel better about it if they have adequate tokens. And would you be able to come back to us or give a report in three months . [inaudible] okay. Thank you very much. Those were my questions. Okay. Supervisor campos. Yes. Thank you. Happy new year to you. Just going to a couple of points we discussed earlier with the chair chair camara. On the language funds, the 10,000 accessed i dont know if you coul
So i would encourage you to maybe discuss the issue further with the committee and maybe if theres a request for Additional Resources i know that i certainly would like to know that and see if theres a way to find that. My manager staff meet monthly with the Shelter Monitoring Committee, exact staff, so i am quite sure that will be first and foremost on their agenda to explore it a little more. Great. Thank you very much. I appreciate it and one thing they would say is that i think the staffing issue is really important because these reports are six months were talking about a prior six month period and i know that for a lot of us with the weather the way it is the conditions in the shelters is something that we all worry about so i think having the additional person will be helpful. Thank you. Can i make a few comments on what i said . Yes please. I want to say for the last two years we worked diligently with the Shelter Monitoring Committee meeting regularly to work out any issues th
Organizations throughout the city that work with homeless population. Simultaneously began to intern at a San Francisco Attorneys Office they can services unit; i learn about criminal system and the legal system in general. I learn about the resources and the city, domestic violence, mental health. Homeless individuals are victimized a lot. Currently i am a shelter advocate; im getting to know about housing, organizing, my strongest point about working there in my mind is that work inside the shelters; i work with the management of every city funded shelter.
