The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is expected to advise the government against accepting the Law Commission s recommendations on the age of consent in cases involving adolescents aged 16-18 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). The NCPCR has raised concerns about the veracity of a policy brief used by the Law Commission in its report and has urged UNICEF to withdraw the document.
