Our country and every municipality is looking at issues of aging and the ways in which the values of the country, state, local, exercise those into services and understandings of the way people age and the kinds of services they need. I am wondering if you can give a short history of what department of aging and Adult Services here is in San Francisco. Certainly. San francisco has a long history of providing services for older adults and adults with disabilities. We are a leader in that. The department has been around for a long time but came together with services in 2000. Our Biggest Program is in Home Supportive Services which provides home care for 22,000 people in San Francisco. We do other things as well. So the department in and of itself is 17 years old. Yes. The department itself. The city was providing the services well before that. Yes. So what is new on the horizon . There are a lot of things on the horizon that are new. One of the things thats new and i think ramona and i

So the department is 17 years old . Yes. Although the city was providing services well below before that. So there are a lot of things in the horizon that are new. One of the things that is new is that deputy fund. She can talk a little bit about how it started.
Over the next five years we planned ad 500 more treatment beds, but everyone in this room knows we need to do more. Please move quickly to enact the act shirt. [applause]. In addition, we have to deal with that no. Is present in less than 30 of overdose death in 2014, but in more than 80 of overdose death in 2018 2017. We have more to do to drive this deadly drug off of our streets. A bill that makes it easier to arrest and can do it convict dealers and traffickers and i ask you to enacted as soon as possible. [applause]. Cutback we also have work to do to bolster Behavioral Health services. The budget we filed tomorrow will include more than 83 million in new funding for the department of Mental Health to strengthen communitybased services are for adults with serious mental illness. [applause]. In addition to integrating behavioral and physical health care, these services will provide ask about reaching gauge with support for residential support, clinical coverage 24 hours a day, 70s
