Agawam police officer injured in serious car crash in front of town hall Updated May 06, 2021; An Agawam police officer was injured in a serious car crash early Thursday in front of the community’s town hall, according to authorities. The crash was reported around 7:45 a.m. in the area of 68 Main St. in front of Agawam Town Hall, said Lt. Jennifer Blanchette of the Agawam Police Department. Only one car was involved in the collision, and only the officer was injured and taken to the hospital. The officer’s injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening, “fortunately, thank god,” Blanchette told MassLive. He was on duty at the time of the crash, according to her.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center, in Springfield, by the Agawam Fire Department ambulance, said Police Lt. Dan Bonafilia. The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was struck at about 4:15 p.m. while he was near 638 Mill St. The vehicle has heading westbound when the crash occurred, he said. Mill Street is currently closed between Franklin and Kensington streets while Agawam Police, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Collision and Reconstruction Section, investigate the crash, Bonafilia said.

Officer Zach Hall was working a shift on New Year s Day when he responded to a call around 2:45 a.m. for a woman actively in labor, according to a Facebook post from the Agawam Police Department in Feeding Hills.
