While Netflix has never shied away from shelling out the big bucks for splashy movie acquisitions, it may have landed its biggest deal yet with two sequels for the 2019 whodunit Knives Out.
The streaming service has shelled out $450 million for the two sequels, according to Deadline, said to be one of the biggest streaming deals in movie history, with Daniel Craig returning as Benoit Blanc and Rian Johnson writing and directing.
The original murder mystery took in $311.3 million worldwide from just a $40 million budget, and while a sequel was expected, a discreet auction for the follow-ups were quite the surprise.
