According to Deadline, the Little Women star will lead the upcoming sci-fi flick, which is inspired by the short story of the same name by Elizabeth Bear, in which the robot doll kills its owner, but claims she s not guilty and demands to have a lawyer. The Shape Of Water scribe Vanessa Taylor and Hotel Artemis Drew Pearce have been tasked with adapting the tale.
Apple Studios has acquired the movie for Apple TV+, following a bidding war between a streaming platform and movie studios.
However, it s not yet been given the green light, as the film is still in need of a director and script.

Midsommar star Florence Pugh has signed on for the lead in The Maid, Universal Pictures’ big screen adaptation of the upcoming debut novel from author Nita Prose.
The book, which is set for release in 2022, is described as “blending the charm of Gail Honeyman’s
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine with an Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery” and follows Molly, a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel, who gets to know each guest’s dirty secrets as she descends into the murderous underbelly of her workplace.
Pugh is currently shooting Olivia Wilde’s new film

soon to eventually be seen in “Black Widow”, has been snapped up by Universal to star in the feature adaptation of Nite Prose’s novel “The Maid”.
Flick, says THR, is an an Agatha Christie-like murder mystery with an unlikely detective: Molly the maid. Zach Braff’s mattress sharer plays the help.
Molly works at Regency Grand Hotel and tidies up the guests’ messes and sweeps up their secrets. But things take a suspenseful turn when she discovers an infamous wealthy guest, Mr. Black, dead in his bed and sets about to solve the mystery of his demise.
