Residents of 315 area of Khair Khana, in Kabul city, said on Sunday that Afghan security forces arrested about 280 people between Saturday and Sunday in connection with suspected terrorist activities, armed robberies and other crimes.
Security forces carried out a door-to-door search of the area that reportedly lasted for 8 hours.
Reports emerged early Saturday of the operation after Khair Khana residents took to social media to post photographs of military tanks being used to close off streets.
At the time, locals said security forces had ordered them to stay inside their homes and were stopping anyone from leaving the area.

An explosion rocked Kabul city on Sunday morning, Kabul police headquarters confirmed.
Security sources told TOLOnews that at least 9 people have been killed and six others were wounded in the explosion in PD5 of the city.
The explosion happened in Spin Kalay square in PD5 of the city.
The Interior Ministry s deputy spokesman Ferdaws Faramarz said three vehicles caught fire in the area (PD5), however, it is unclear if the explosion is the cause.
The explosion targeted the vehicle of Haji Khan Mohammad Wardak, a member of parliament from Kabul. Wardak survived the attack.
The Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement confirmed that at least 8 people were killed and 15 were wounded in the explosion in PD5 of Kabul.
