good morning, and thanks for joining us on this memorial day. i m dara brown. extreme weather striking on this holiday weekend. six people have been killed, and dozens more injured, after deadly storms slammed through parts of the central united states. in oklahoma, an ef-3 tornado tore through el reno leaving a trail of debris in its wake more than 100 miles wide. a second twister spawned in tulsa, with speeds over 80 miles an hour. we have more from our affiliate kfor, in el reno with the latest. reporter: take a look at this debris already piling up after an ef-3 tornado ripped through el reno oklahoma, we know the storm hit late saturday night and residents tell us they did not even see it coming. as we take a walk over here, here is the motel that was severely hit. the second story, collapsed. behind it, a trailer park. where people say they were clinging to their lives. one man said it was a sound that
people were killed and a motel destroyed. peyton peyton yeager, reporter for affiliate kfor, joins us live from el reno with a just unbelievable there. just unbelievable there. reporter: reporter: damage, damage, we re just we re just arriving on scene right now. daylight hours allowing us to get a clearer picture if we pan over here, this is the hotel right off of i-40. the second floor partially collapsed last night around 10:20 p.m. when that tornado there hit. there is a trailer park on the other side. the mayor of el reno speaking to the media this morning. confirming that two people are 29 dead. 29 sent to the hospital ranging from minor to critical several condition. several undergoing surgeries right now. life-threatening conditions. the national weather service out today confirming that at least an ef-2 tornado, that means winds up to 135 miles an hour. now, police have this blocked off right now. people are available to come up to the caution tape.
