PTI The high-level FSDC headed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on December 15 discussed the additional measures that could be taken by the government in the next Budget to accelerate growth while maintaining financial stability.
The meeting, which was also virtually attended by Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur, noted that there is a need to keep a continuous vigil by the government and all regulators on the financial conditions that could expose financial vulnerabilities in the medium and long-term.

The 23rd meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) noted with comfort that the policy measures taken by the government and the financial sector regulatory authorities have ensured faster economic recovery, as reflected in the reduced contraction of GDP in Q2 of 2020-21.

Economic Affairs Secretary Tarun Bajaj on Friday said the new Public Sector Enterprises (PSE) policy will be an ambitious one. He also expressed optimism that the economy will improve in the remaining part of the fiscal .
“A formal decision on the new policy is expected very soon. This policy would be much more ambitious than anticipated. It will bring about a paradigm shift,” Bajaj said at a panel discussion organised by an industry chamber. The discussion saw participation of Industry Secretary Guru Prasad Mahapatra, Education Secretary Amit Khare and Secretary (Economic Relation) in External Affairs Ministry Rahul Chhabra.
