China allows crew change for stranded Indian sailors on cargo vessel

New Delhi, Feb 4: India on Thursday said authorities in China have given clearance for crew change for 16 stranded Indian sailors on board a cargo vessel that has been on an anchorage near the Chinese port of Caofeidian since September.
External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava, at a media briefing, said he was hopeful that the crew change can be effected at the earliest. After sustained follow up by our embassy in Beijing, the Chinese central authorities have conveyed their clearance to the local foreign office in Tangshan and port authorities for the transfer of crew of MV Anastasia, he said.

Hours after the US administration reacted to the farmer protests, India on Thursday said the comments must be seen in their entirety and appeared to compare the reactions and sentiments in the country after incidents of violence and vandalism at the Red Fort on 26 January to those following the recent clashes at the US Capitol Hill.

Expressing solidarity with agitating Indian farmers, an alliance of various diaspora organisations has demanded the repeal of the three agricultural laws that have caused unrest in the country s farming community.
Global Indian Progressive Alliance, which represents more than a dozen and a half diaspora organisations from across the world, demanded that the Indian government recognise the right to peaceful protest, and acknowledge the peaceful protests outside Delhi for the last 60 plus days and of prior farmer protests across the country.
India has called the remarks by foreign leaders and organisations on protests by farmers as ill-informed and unwarranted , asserting that the matter pertains to the internal affairs of a democratic country.
Pakistan says India should avail its offer for consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav

Islamabad, Jan 28: Pakistan said on Thursday that India should avail its offer for consular access to death-row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav and cooperate to implement the judgment of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) about effective review of his case.
Fifty-year-old retired Indian Navy officer Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017. Weeks later, India approached the ICJ against Pakistan for denial of consular access to Jadhav and challenging the death sentence handed to him.
