A deputy police chief was shot dead in Khairpur, about 483 km north-east of Karachi, and a mob freed more than 40 people from a village jail in Larkana in Sind district, according to unofficial reports.
External Affairs Minister P V Narasimha Rao gave this information to the consultative committee of MPs attached to his ministry. He expressed serious concern and said, “India feels that the situation in West Asia is getting out of hand”.
