UK Art Museum Exhibits Run the Spectrum

From one end of the spectrum to the other, the University of Kentucky Art Museum is opening two art exhibitions that explore the use of color. Utilizing some favorites as well as rarely seen pieces from the museum collection in combination with select works on loan, “Coloring” will remind viewers just how complex color can be. And for those visitors drawn to a more stark, monotone palette, don’t miss “Template Days” featuring the work of artists Avantika Bawa and May Tveit in conversation for the first time.

Frustration after United Utilities roadworks cause hour-long queues on A590

FRUSTRATED drivers stuck in hour-long queues have hit out at the ‘ridiculous’ traffic delays on the A590. Roadworks put in place at Newby Bridge roundabout on Wednesday afternoon left motorists in lengthy delays as traffic queued for more than five miles up the A590. The roadworks, which began on Wednesday and are due to finish today, have been put in place by United Utilities. Drivers travelling from Barrow to Kendal faced an hour-long delay to a journey which routinely takes around 50 minutes. Located at Newby Bridge, the road works’ temporary traffic lights were on from 4.40pm, causing delays in both directions.

OU professor, candidate for director of Gateway to Belonging course outlines vision for program

OU professor Meta Carstarphen spoke about her vision for the new Gateway to Belonging course during a Thursday forum hosted as part of the search for director of the program. Joshua Nelson, chair of the search committee for the director, introduced   Carstarphen as the second candidate in the webinar’s series. Adrienne Carter-Sowell, who has served associate head of diversity, equity and inclusion in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University, spoke during the first webinar on April 13.  According to an email sent by Nelson on Thursday, Adrienne Dixon – one of the candidates for director of the program – has withdrawn from the search. Her webinar on April 23 has been canceled while all the other webinars will proceed as scheduled.
