Tolerance, temperance, and a number of other social causes of her day. I am going to talk about her, but i am doing a couple other things for you. The premise of this course is the idea that you must understand women reformers in the context of their day. So i am going to trace her personal context, which is important, she was a quaker and i will talk about what that means, but also her social context, social, political and religious contexts, the things that were going on around her. And it is my argument, the city, the domestic second great awakening which i have mentioned, was a part of what helped to radicalize her, contributed to her effectiveness. So both her personal and social contexts are part of this. And i want you to see this as modeling for your own thinking about your own reformers.
