Twelve areas of Cornwall have recorded more than 100 cases of Covid-19 in a week after overall cases more than doubled leading up to New Year s Eve.

Cornwall has dropped back down a level again this week following a drop in new cases of Covid-19. The weekly total for the seven days leading up to April 26 was 55 confirmed new cases - the most recent five days not being available due to incomplete data. This was 17 fewer than the weekly total recorded last Saturday, marking a 23.6% reduction. It brings the rolling rate of cases back down to 9.6 cases per 100,000 people, compared to 12.6 cases per 100,000 a week ago. Although the number of new cases have risen very slightly on a week ago, the areas reporting them in Cornwall have almost halved - and they re almost all centred on one part.  It s as 64 new cases of coronavirus were recorded across the seven days leading up to April 23 – the most recent five days not shown due to incomplete data. This is two more than the weekly figure recorded a week ago, marking a 3.2% rise. The rolling rate has also risen slightly, to 11.2 cases per 100,000 people compared to 10.8 cases per 100,000 last Wednesday. Two new cluster areas showing three or more cases of Covid-19 have been added to today s map, although the overall number remains the same. It s as the weekly number of new cases in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly in the seven days leading up to Monday this week, April 19, rose to 72 in total. The most recent five days are not shown due to incomplete data. It was an increase of 28 cases on the previous week, representing a 63.6 per cent rise. The rolling rate of new cases is now 12.6 cases per 100,000 people, compared to only 7.7 cases per 100,000 people in last Saturday s update.
