drivers in the state are yet to receive the financial assistance promised by the state government last year. The government had announced that they would provide Rs 5,000 to each
autorickshaw driver in the state. This includes seven lakh drivers but so far, only about three lakh drivers have received this much needed monetary aid.
“I submitted a memorandum to Siddaramaiah, the
Leader of Opposition in the
Assembly last year to persuade the state government to announce a financial package similar to the one announced by the government in Delhi,” said G Sampath, the general secretary of the Adarsha Auto and Taxi Drivers’ Association who appealed to the government to help the autorickshaw drivers who suffered financially during the lockdown.
