Protesters demand release of bodycam footage of Tenn. school shooting after investigators change narrative By Jordan Smith KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Protesters and activists are demanding the release of body cam footage after an officer-involved shooting at a Knoxville high school on April 12 left a Black student dead. Authorities identified the deceased student as 17-year-old Anthony J. Thompson, Jr. In its initial news release, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations (TBI) said preliminary information indicated officers learned that day that someone possibly had a gun inside Austin-East Magnet High School. Police said they confronted Thompson in the school restroom where they initially accused him of firing shots that struck an officer and said that one officer returned fire, killing him.
