I want to make sure that everyones thats not in this chamber can hear my voice and understand that this moment is not about me, it is about our collective interests as we as a city begin to creatively figure out some of these challenges. The last four years have been about Building Partnerships and and now its about pushing to the next level. Im here to humbly present myself as a bold servant for the city and county of San Francisco. Thank you very much my name is malia cohen. [applause] thank you supervisor, cohen. Id now like to acknowledge supervisor mark farrell. [applause] thank you president breed and thank you colleagues. Youll have to forgive my voice here today im recovering from a cold. First of all i want to say congratulations to supervisor breed. You are going to do an amazing job as president of our board for the next two years and i couldnt be more proud to support you. Congratulations. Beginning of this revitalization and i want to thank those folks on ocii who are revitalizing our 12i. It is exciting to see the Southeast Side of the city catching fire and moving forward in a positive way and a way thats not leaving people behind and thats really important. You can move forward and you cannot leave people behind. Yes, we have our challenges but that does not mean we are defined by our challenges. We have begun to rebuild housing and removed over 600 guns off the street and i want to thank the Police Department for doing that. We will continue to do that and chip away and make sure our safety net is safe and fair for everyone in this city. I want to in closing give a few remarks about some of the work im going to be doing in the next four years. Ill be working to ensure that affordable units being built here in our city become available to everyone equally and making sure theyre accessible and theres quality advertisement and make sure that long time residents can rem
And really to my colleagues, last and certainly not least. It has been a pri ledge to get to know each and ef every one of you the last four years. The thing that excites me, these are friendships that will last a lifetime but weve done a great job the last four years and i am excited about what were going to accomplish these next two years and beyond and i want to thank you for working together and forming these relationships. It matters the world to me. People always ask what its like to be on the board of supervisors and to represent the city. To me above all else i say its an honor to do what i do. Again, thats the neighborhood i grew up in where my parents live in the same house i grew up in and whereliz and i are now living with jack madison and cane. It always has been and will be home so i want to thank everybody for being here today. I want to thank the voters of district two. It has been a great first term. I think the best is yet to come and i really look forward to working

Said you got to give them hope and i believe that and take that spirit with me every day when i come to these chambers and when im in the streets of district ten. Many people think of the district and images negative images come to mind, high crime rate, underperforming schools, a part of San Francisco where no one should go but everyone in district ten knows thats not all that there is to the neighborhood. And i represent a vibrant, Live Community with dedicated committed talented people and its resilient, one of the most resilient neighborhoods inside San Francisco and we are at the beginning of this revitalization and i want to thank those folks on ocii who are revitalizing our 12i.
