when fun time from the bay area s local news station. you re watching kron. 4 news. now at 9 developing news out of orange county tonight, one person is dead and 5 others are injured after a gunman opens fire inside of a church. good evening and thank you for joining us for kron. 4 news at 9. i m dan thor and i m noelle bellow. this shooting happened earlier this afternoon during a banquet following sunday church service. investigators say they have detained an asian man in his 60 s. the 5 people shot are all being described as for asian men and an asian woman all in their late 60 s to early 90 s. carlos saucedo has the latest details. we know multiple patients were transported to area hospitals. 2 of the victims are brought here to providence mission hospital in mission viejo. they were brought here in critical condition. the gunfire erupted inside geneva presbyterian church in laguna woods just before one 30 this afternoon about 30 to 40 people were inside during

from the bay area s local news station. we now with breaking news. we begin tonight with the breaking news in southern california. state of emergency is being declared now for the city of laguna niguel in southern california. the coastal fire, it has burned at least 200 acres so far and approximately 20 homes. these are multimillion dollar homes about 25 miles down the coast from huntington beach ares county fire officials say they have 60 different types of resources battling the flames tonight as residents are being asked to evacuate and people in surrounding areas are being told to limit their use of water. strong winds earlier this afternoon made it quite difficult for fire crews to extinguish the flames. but the orange county fire chief tonight says fire crews are starting to, quote, get a better handle on the situation. the focus is to get into these homes to really take a look at those addicts to get down to the vegetation, to really make sure that we re not le
on his promise to protect abortion rights in california, the governor first announced his pledge to protect access to abortion during his rally in los angeles last week, along with a new campaign focused on abortion. today, he announced plans to add an additional 57 million to his proposed state budget that would be spent on abortion and reproductive health care, bringing the proposed total to 125 million. it s expected that women from other states would come to california for abortions if the supreme court does overturn roe versus wade. california is one of the 16 states that will make sure abortion access continues. the governor says california will not stand idly by as extremists roll back our basic constitutional rights. we re going to fight like making sure all women, not just those in california. no, this state will continue to recognize and protect their fundamental rights. meanwhile, the u.s. senate today fell short in a vote designed to make abortion access to federa
