Daniel Vettori did not flinch, snaffling three wickets in the final over to edge Team Cricket to a tense two-run win over Team Rugby in the third annual edition of the Black Clash.
With Jordie Barrett on the cusp of carrying Team Rugby to an unlikely upset Vettori nonchalantly stepped up, as he did throughout his decorated New Zealand career, to claim the All Blacks and Hurricanes playmaker for 30 from 11 balls.

The last time All Blacks star Will Jordan played a competitive cricket match about 20 people were watching. It will be a different story under lights at Christchurch s Hagley Oval on Friday when the Crusaders fullback-wing lines up for Team Rugby against Team Cricket in the annual Black Clash T20. More than 7000 fans attended the inaugural event in 2019 at Hagley and another large crowd is expected for the festival match. Jordan s last proper cricket match was in December 2015 for the Christchurch Boys High First XI at the Gillette Cup schoolboy nationals. Aside from two or three” social T20s on a Saturday over the last four years, Jordan s focus has been on his burgeoning rugby career – making his All Blacks debut against Australia in November.

Can former Black Cap star Adam Parore nudge out the rugby legends when he joins Team Cricket for the Hot Spring Spas T20 Christchurch Black Clash in January?
The former wicketkeeper will turn 50 the day after the match and tells Spy he hasn t played competitively in front of a big crowd since 2008 - in fact he s barely played at all in years. I m currently looking to rectify that with a few outings for the Clevedon T20 team, Parore tells Spy. I m expecting the wicketkeeping should be okay - the batting likely a stretch.
While Black Caps fans have rightly cherished the side’s indomitable home record and the performances of Kane Williamson, Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee over the past two weeks, many would love a less one-sided competition – and five days of play in a test – when Pakistan start their test series at Mount Maunganui on Boxing Day.
