While some called for Thermopolis Police Sgt. Mike Mascorro’s firing for killing a suspect in a shootout after breaking into his home illegally, even more stood up during a Tuesday Town Council meeting to support him as a protector of the community.
The town of Thermopolis experienced its first officer-involved shooting where a person s life was lost on April 28, Mayor Adam Estenson said in a statement Tuesday.
Thermopolis residents have gathered at the town's main intersection every night to protest the actions of Thermopolis Police Sgt. Mike Mascorro, who killed a suspect in a gunfight after breaking into the suspect's home without a warrant.
