Hello, everyone. So glad to have you back for democracy media in the public sphere. So first were going to do a shout out to begin our class as weve done before. Can i have natalie and ryan come up here, please . Okay. Natalie and ryan. Natalie and ryan are giving you a shout out, a special shout out to start class. Go ahead and have a seat. So Natalie Natalie has previously worked for npr, you are now working with a get out the Vote Organization which youve told us a little bit about and were just really proud that youre supporting that democracy and youre doing social media to democracy media in the public sphere. Ryan is in the process of building an app to tell us how long the polling lines are, which is just incredible. So bringing in, again, that democracy media and the public sphere. We need those apps, my husband is in line right now, 70minute wait where he is so people are really going to need this app that ryan is creating. So to you both, you get a hat. A round of applause.
Markets sort of whipsawed by the tweets last night from the president trying to figure out exactly where we are how are investors supposed to take this today . Well, you know, i truly do believe, scott, even after the president s tweet yesterday that sent the markets down almost 500 points in a very short period of time, the last hour and 15 minutes of the day, i still belief theres the possibility we have out there, and i brought this up last time i was on with you guys, the idea i thought we would get one done by the weekend or through the weekend obviously with some of the tweets and so forth, but then the president immediately seemed to have flipped back around and be a part of this whole thing. I do think we will see a stimulus at some point in the not too distant future because of that, i think it gives you a great opportunity on that dip yesterday, and obviously youre seeing a pretty nice rise today. We know what the temperature is of the markets and what people want to hear and
Examine every part of our society to try and root out the underlying biases that exist. From the police to corporate hiring practices and even pancake syrup. And with all the problems having been solved, now we are moving to outer space. Nasa is reexamining some of the nicknames it uses for distant objects in outer space. The Scientific Community sometimes refers to those cosmic objects using unofficial names. Nasa says the problem is that some of the names are insensitive and even actively harmful. For example, the nick nickname for a planetary nebula ngc2392 was eskimo nebula, they are also doing away with the term Siamese Twins galaxy used to refer to a pair of spirl galaxies in the virgo cluster. Trevor thats right, people. Nasa is making space woke. And im fine with renaming stuff as long as they dont try and change the name of black holes. I dont want to hear no urban holes, or underprivileged holes, they are black and they are proud. If nasa wants real change, they should cancel
Social media to the morning news, has been Bubba Wallace, nascar, and the noose. Now, if you missed the story, heres how it all went down Bubba Wallace, the only black nascar driver, has been promoting the black lives Matter Movement and pushing nascar to ban the Confederate Flag from its races. Nascar agreed, and Bubba Wallace immediately faced a huge firestorm from people who felt like he was blocking their Southern Heritage and racism. Then, a week after the flag was banned from the races, one of wallaces crew members found a noose hanging in the garage where wallaces car was parked. And so, immediately, everybody was on edge, especially black people. I mean, its a noose. A noose is like the n word of ropes. In fact, i dont even like to say the word moose because its too close to noose. I just call it a canadian cow. So, anyway, after the noose was found, nascar called in the f. B. I. To investigate if this was, indeed, a hate crime, and last night, the f. B. I. Announced their find
Add that to concerns over the virus caseload and youve got this. The dow industrials, down 700 yesterday, down maybe another 200 this morning. The s p down 80 yesterday, down another 20 today. The nasdaq yesterday, down 200 points. Today, down about 13 points. A sea of red ink over there. A big loss especially for the dow. 1. 48 million new jobless claims this past week. Now, thats not a good number and it pushed stock prices just a little lower when that news was released at 8 30 eastern. Now, today, President Trump heads to wisconsin. Good timing. The democrat governor there has just called out the National Guard. A protester wielding a baseball bat and bullhorn harangued a restaurant crowd. He was arrested. Molotov cocktails were thrown, the Police Needed help. Governor evers sees the light and calls in the National Guard. Same thing in washington, d. C. Hundreds of National Guard troops now marshaling. They will protect the capitals monuments. Thursday, june 25, 2020. Varney compan
