these two candidates is that vance really got bruised during the primaries, had a lot of trouble raising money, and ryan is the best candidate the democrats could ve possibly hope for. he is a moderate, he s a populist, he comes across as this blue collar guy that everybody can relate to. he s able to raise a ton of money, and so, what we re seeing with that fox town hall is that exactly, that they re both appealing to the same kinds of voters. what did you hear there, john? first of all, j.d. vance said that he would back the national abortion ban, that s what he said. he got the applause for saying i don t think we should be awarding babies when they can feel pain, which is what j.d. vance was saying. j.d. s applause line we should stick with roe v. wade, and that tim ryan. and that speaks to the unpopularity of i think overturning roe, even in an ohio that wasn t the response that the fox host we re expecting from that crowd. but i think it speaks to their frustration folks fe
nosedive? it s 47% now in the wake of all of those things joan mentioned. yeah. trust in institutions has been degrading throughout this country for the last several years anyway. but the level that people don t trust the court now a lot of that came after the dobbs decision, too. the fact that they did overturn that. republicans for so long have been saying that they do not want an activist court, they don t want a court that length late legislates from the bench. but what this court shows is democrats say that s exactly what they are doing. they are overturning precedence. they are length legislating fr bench. justices are responding to that. they are. i want to say, they truly are rolling back precedent, they are reaching out to address questions. that s a fact. justice thomas and justice alito and gorsuch, want to be doing
said it best. the fact that the court overturned a longstanding precedent does not mean it s an activist court. why does the left not understand that jamil? i think the challenges to our country today. ing approval ratings and the court is facing the same challenges. all of our institutions are under same pressure. you go congress and change the constitution. we he have a lot of ways to change our laws. the supreme court is not the vehicle for doing that i believe the supreme court doing that when it s not their job. it s to do law not politics. todd: a former attorney general of the state of california, not see the harm in questioning the legitimacy of the court? i mean, let s face it, jamil, this is the party that questions the threat to democracy at every turn. do they not see that questioning the legitimacy of the supreme court, one of the three branches of government is an actual

he was waiting for a majority to call it unconstitutional despite decades, and this is for the justices to fulfill their oath and what the constitution says about the rights. john: you might be on one side of the other, that colors your opinion whether they are an activist court or good jurisprudence on their own understanding of the constitution and their law. jonathan: that s right this. is a failure of leadership. this is the vice president of the united states. she needs to temper the anger and rage, not to reduce the criticism of the court. chief justice roberts said criticize us, question us, that s important to the system but you don t have to attack them personally to challenge their integrity as individuals. i disagree with some of the decisions of these justices, but i have never questioned their integrity. they try to get things right. they try to be consistent.
