New Delhi: According to the Union Home Ministry data, India reports the highest ever single-day spike in the cases of COVID 19 with 1,84,372 fresh cases. The cases have been going in an upward spiral for the 35th consecutive day. The total tally of caseload as of Wednesday amounts to 1,38,73,825 while India crosses the 13 lakhs mark of active caseloads.
The data on 8 AM on Wednesday showed that the death toll had increased to 1,72,085 with 1,027 new fatalities, which is considered the highest since October 18, 2020.
DCGI Grants Permission for Restricted Use of Sputnik-V Vaccine
The vaccine is indicated for active immunization to prevent COVID-19 disease in individuals ≥ 18 years of age.

NEW DELHI: After detailed deliberation, the SEC recommended for grant of permission for the restricted use of the Sputnik-V vaccine in emergency situations subject to various regulatory provisions.
The vaccine is indicated for active immunization to prevent COVID-19 disease in individuals ≥ 18 years of age.
The Union Government has been leading the fight against COVID-19 with a proactive and Whole of Government approach, with a focus on containment, surveillance, testing, COVID Appropriate Behaviour, and vaccination. The countrywide vaccination drive started on 16th Jan 2021.
