At the july meeting, which was very timely, we funded a lot of pedestrian signals from prop k and proposed from prop aa. The commissioner asked to speak to. Is back to normal. It just kicked back up about half an hour ago. A silver suv lost control, hitting a guardrail, setting off a domino effect of crashes that happened most of the stretch of 880 shut down for hours. This white car burst into flames after crashing on 880 at Marina Boulevard in san leandro. It was part of the Chain Reaction after an suv lost control. A big rig carrying paving equipment tried to avoid a collision. And ended up crossing southbound lanes, crashing through the concrete wall sending debris everywhere through the northbound lanes. Firefighters quickly tried to rescue people trapped in their cars. A helicopter landed on the 880 southbound lanes to airlift one victim, the most seriously hurt. Ive seen what happened on the drive up to it. Put them in the chopper. And he took off, and then i seen line four or five ambulance going by and they had somebody in each one of them.
