cabinet. we have as everybody knows we have the deputy who will be acting for a period of time. reporter: the acting labor secretary will be in good company. because the department of defense, department of homeland security, and multiple other federal agencies are all run by acting heads. while experts say permanent cabinet secretaries provide more stability, the president prefers it his way, without the confirmation hearings. i sort of like acting. gives me more flexibilities. reporter: critics have also noted that outgoing acosta was the only hispanic in the president s cabinet. he was a great student at harvard. he is hispanic which i so admire because maybe it was a little toucher for him and maybe not. reporter: now, of course with alex acosta s departure, there is going to be a renewed focus on just how many officials in the president s cabinet and throughout the government are in
