Shortly before President Trump left for his meeting with World Leaders in argentina, last hour just a few moments ago he called his onetime attorney and fixer Michael Cohen a quote, weak person, who is lying. Cohen made a surprise appearance in a Federal Courtroom in manhattan this morning. He named the president. He named President Trump in a shocking new plea deal involving Trum
there, it s like this crazy new york place. this is the place they decide to meet. and the question is, is manafort meeting with kilimnik to regenerate his own personal business in the ukraine where he made so much money where the $15,000 ostrich jacket came from, or is he meeting with kilimnik to try to get the russians to help donald trump win the election? and that is obviously the most legally significant, but it may simply be manafort s greed. senator blumenthal, do you buy that, that it could just be greed? it could be greed. it could be just the habit of self-enrichment. it could also be that at the end of the day manafort wants a pardon. and there is obviously a reluctance to talk about it, but
the judge is ruling he intentionally lied after agreeing to cooperate. i guess the question is why was he lying? what was he trying to protect, and were there others that were cooperating with the government that were lying as well? and that s why many of us are really eager to see a report from the special investigator. i have been amongst those who have said that while i don t want mueller to shut down his investigation, he s locking people up and should continue to lock bad guys up. at some point he has to show congress his cards and this new finding that manafort was lying intenti intentionally to him, raising more questions about what they were all trying to hide. i would like to see some report from the special investigator as soon as possible. so we can take action on it if it s necessary. senator murphy, thank you so much. i appreciate your time. thanks, erin. and next, another government shut down could be just two days away. why won t the president commit to signing a
didn t remember certain details. prosecute vors accused manafort of five specific lies. he pleaded guilty last year to financial crimes and agreed to cooperate with the mueller investigation. the judge issued an order saying that manafort lied in three of those topics. the lies were, quote, material to the investigation. two of those lies, the judge said, had to do with manafort s former business associate. prosecutors argue kilimnik is a russian agent. we don t know exactly what else happened at the meeting, but prosecutors say it was important enough that than for the lied about it. the judge has yet to decide how long manafort will spend in prison and whether he gets any time for admitting to his
