The Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Olanite, has raised the alarm that arms and ammunitions are being imported into Ogun State.
The monarch, who spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abeokuta on Tuesday, which was attended by some northern governors, said the whole of Yewaland had been infiltrated with arms and ammunition.
He said the development had exposed people living in the area to serious attacks by armed herdsmen.
He lamented that farmers in the area had suffered huge losses, which might not be recoverable on time except they got help from the government.

Northern Governors Continue Southwest Tour
The four Northern Governors – Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), and Abubakar Bello (Niger) – who were in Oyo State on Monday attended a farmer-herders stakeholder meeting in Ogun State on Tuesday.
The Governors are seeking ways to douse tensions between the country’s South and North.
“We have to take some drastic measures,” Governor Ganduje said at the meeting, which was also attended by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. “Otherwise we are just scratching the problem on the back.”
The governors are, Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi) and Abubakar Bello (Niger).
The host governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, who led his counterparts to assess the destruction in the area, sued for peace and promised that his government would find means to restore peace to the community.
Makinde said, “As a government, you trust and elected us into office, please trust our judgement to watch out for you and ensure that we coexist peacefully”
“There is nothing we can do in an atmosphere of unrest and disharmony, those who go to Iroko to continue trading, I will lock up the place.
