Wearables and hearables are the only electronic categories in India dominated by home grown brands who together have 65-70% market share even when competing against global companies like Apple, Samsung and OnePlus. Palred Electronics, which owns pTron, revenue is Rs 148 crore in FY23 as compared to Rs 106 crore in FY21, while it posted a net loss of Rs 2 crore last fiscal as against Rs 4.3 crore profit in 2020-21.
Boult, a domestic wearables brand, expects its dependence on the Chinese supply chain to decline as component manufacturing in India picks up, with local value addition around 15% compared to zero in early 2022. The government s Make-in-India initiative encourages domestic manufacturing of electronics components, with import duty on wearables and batteries reduced to 5-15%.
Boult said that gamers can enjoy non-stop gaming with 100 hours of continuous gameplay with the Curve Buds Pro. The TWS earbuds comes with USB Type-C charging port. For audio clarity during calls, the brand has equipped with TWS with a quad-microphone environmental noise cancellation technology.
