director of american rising pact. and a former biden campaign surrogate. we ll dig into the politics of this issue. i ll start with you. as you look at this, the defund the police movement was something that you saw some democrats trying to back away from while others now still leaning into it. yeah, great to be with you. that s exactly turning into a relish yu for democrats heading into the mid-terms. we ve seen at america rising across the board that crime and public safety is becoming a top issue there with the economy for a wide swath of voters. also note one of the democrats who raised the flag on this after 2020, abigail spang berger, she said aligning ourselves with defund the police is costing us at the polls. her district has gone from lean
sandra: bill mcgurn will join me on america reports. he makes a fair point. with every policy that comes out and this administration not being able to explain how it makes lives better for americans, they put more congressional districts in play. yesterday i was in virginia s second congressional district in virginia beach. a lot of chatter about afghanistan, a big naval base down there. they are still worked up about afghanistan. coming back up to virginia s seventh congressional district abigail spang berger is a target for republicans. a center of where parents want to be involved in their children s education. so it is not bill highlighted two big ones. in each of these competitive congressional districts there are specific issues that make those democrats vulnerable and put republicans in a good spot for next year. sandra: perhaps that s the
voters, suburban voters kept talking about they wanted a return to normalcy and what they were craving and what was directing a lot of their vote. now you have some moderate democrats who have taken to calling themselves normal. they are saying i m a normal democrat and they are distancing themselves from progressives. so mccarthy pounced on that daylight between some democrats. watch this. it s so secret that this bill is too extreme, too costly, and too liberal. just a few weeks ago, congresswoman abigail spang berger said nobody elected joe biden to be fdr. i did. that was alexandria ocasio-cortez voice. a moment that she has spoken out quite a bit this week. what does that tell us, jason?
i am a former cia case officer, a former federal agent. my perspective is we need to fully understand what happened. the american people regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum should want to know whether the allegations are true or false. i think the president should want to insure he is vindicated if he asserts he is innocent and if he is not, that s a dire circumstance and one of great national security. bill: last night on cnn you said this, the circumstance is cut and dry. the president allegedly sought to influence a foreign leader. how can cut and dry and alleged by be used in the same sentence based on the limited information we have at the moment, congresswoman? the cut and dry i think in the larger discussion that we were having is i am it is cut and dry what it is we re looking at. i am not looking to talk about any other allegations against the president when i m saying these offenses are deeply concerning and if true
