New Delhi, May 21: It s the 31st death anniversary of Moulvi Farooq, Mirwaiz of Kashmir who was murdered by his own people at his residence at Nageen in downtown Srinagar on May 21, 1990. Mirwaiz Farooq, was a well-known cleric and staunch supporter of Kashmiriyat . He was also a fierce opponent of Pakistan supported terrorism in the state in the name of Jihad .
Three pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists Abdul Rehman Shingan, alias Inayat, along with Mohammad Ayub Dar and Zahoor Ahmed were caught as suspects for Mirwaiz s assassinations. But the leader, Javed Ahmed, alias Ajmal Khan and his deputy Zahoor Ahmed, alias Bilal, are still absconding.

At least six residential houses were damaged, most of them fully, in highly congested Nawa Bazar area in heart of the Old City here, official sources said on Thursday.
They said the fire erupted during night at around 4:20 a.m. The fire apparently erupted due to short-circuit in one of the houses.
Soon the fire spread and engulfed five other houses in the vicinity.
The fire was controlled with the help of fire tenders, local and police, they said. Those whose houses were damaged include Mehraj-ud-din Khan and Ghulam Rasool (joint), Abdul Majeed Dar, Nazir Ahmed and Javiad Ahmad Dar (joint) , Abdul Qayoom Khan, Tawheed Showkat Dar, and Muneer Ahmad Dar and Mohammad Shafi Dar (joint). Elderly Man Found Dead Inside Mosque
SRINAGAR: A man was found dead inside a mosque in Zadibal area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Saturday.
Reports said that the body of one Abdul Qayoom Khan, Son of lt. Ab Rehman hailing from Gilikadal Zonimar area of Srinagar was found inside the mosque in Shreebhat Masjid in Zadibal.
A police officer told news agency KDC that a police party has reached the spot and has recovered the dead body and has kicked-off an investigation into the matter.
Srinagar: A middle-aged man, missing since yesterday, was found dead inside the bathroom of a mosque in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Saturday morning.
As per reports, Abdul Qayoom Khan, son of late Abdul Rehman of Gilli Kadal Zoonimar was found dead by locals inside the bathroom of the Masjid at Sharibhat area of Zadibal.
Officials told GNS that the 55-year-old had gone missing from 1500 hours on Friday.
Confirming it, a Police said that a case has been registered in this regard and further investigations taken up. (GNS)
