Delhi high court intervened and granted three weeks interim bail to Pinjra Tod activist Natasha Narwal NEW DELHI: A day after she lost her father to Covid 19, the Delhi high court on Monday intervened and granted three weeks interim bail to Pinjra Tod activist Natasha Narwal, arrested last year in connection with the northeast Delhi riots, to perform his last rites. A bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Anup Jairam Bhambani said “in the interests of justice, we are of the view that the release of the applicant/appellant is imperative in this hour of grief and personal loss and in the facts and circumstances of the case” ordering her immediate release so that Narwal could go to Haryana where the body of her father Mahavir Narwal is being kept in a hospital.

Photo: Social media 10/May/2021 New Delhi: The Delhi high court on Monday granted three weeks’ interim bail to student-activist Natasha Narwal, after her father Mahavir Narwal passed away due to COVID-19. She will have to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 before her release, Natasha had earlier asked for interim bail as her father was severely ill. “In the pleading, we had sought interim bail on the ground that the father is down with COVID-19. Unfortunately, he passed away last evening. The brother also has COVID,” her lawyer, Adit Pujari, said at Monday’s hearings.
