NEW DELHI - India's government on Tuesday (July 11) said it would impose a 28 per cent tax on funds that online gaming companies collect from their customers, in a blow to the $1.5 billion (S$2 million) industry that has surged in popularity and attracted foreign investment. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the decision to impose tax on the total.
Online gaming industry stakeholders on Tuesday termed the 28 per cent GST on the full value of gaming as "unconstitutional, irrational and egregious", saying that the move is a self goal that will kill the skilled online gaming sector in the country.
