​Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology said in Lok Sabha that till date 29 lakh Indians who either had missing fingers or otherwise unable to provide fingerprint or Iris or both biometric were issued an Aadhaar. The statement comes after Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar intervened to ensure the enrolment of a woman, Josymol P Jose, in Kerala who could not get enrolled for Aadhaar as she did not have fingers.
According to Chandrasekhar, all Aadhaar Service Kendras have received advice instructing them to obtain alternative biometrics to provide Aadhaar to individuals with disabilities similar to Joses, such as those with smudged fingerprints.
