BUTUAN CITY - A total of 326 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases were recorded in Caraga Region, breaching the 50,000 number of infections as of Sunday night, the Department of Health (DOH) in Region 13 (Caraga) reported Monday. DOH-13 said 50,436 total Covid-19 infections are already recorded in the region since the pandemic hit the country in 2020. "Most of the new infections were recorded in Agusan del Sur with 140, followed by Surigao del Sur with 64," the DOH-13 said. This city got the highest number of new infections among cities in the region on Sunday with 46, followed by Tandag (23), Bayugan (15), Bislig (13), Cabadbaran (11), and Surigao (1). Lower infections were recorded in Agusan del Norte with seven and Surigao del Norte with six while the province of Dinagat Islands had zero Covid-19 infections on the same day. (File photo) MANILA - The Bar Examination will push through this month amid calls to cancel it for the third straight year due to the pandemic and the destruction caused by Typhoon Odette in December. The Supreme Court (SC) announced Tuesday that the Bar exam with revised coverage will be held on January 23 and 25, with examinees taking four sets of examinations, pro hac vice (for this occasion only). For the first time, the exam will be held in multiple sites. Previous Bar exams were held for four Sundays with two subjects each and at the University of Santo Tomas as the venue in recent years. Before the announcement, the Bar exam was supposed to be held on January 16, 23, 30, and February 6. In a report Tuesday, the agency said the other active cases include 33 percent with mild symptoms, 3.7 percent severe, and 0.3 percent critical. Also, the DOH-13 said active Covid-19 cases in the region are down to 59 with seven new cases reported on Monday. "The remaining 59 active cases in Caraga Region represents 0.1 percent of the 49,220 total Covid-19 cases recorded in the region since the pandemic started in March last year," the DOH-13 said. As of Tuesday, the total number of recoveries in the region was recorded at 47,263, or 96 percent of the total cases.
