january 6, that ended up going unshared by homeland security. tell us about it. obtained an internal dhs emails and shared with us. these are emails within dhs s low profile intelligence office. the emails show that on january 6th, as the violence broke out in the capitol, u.s. capitol police reached out to their intelligence allies in dhs and said do you have any intel about the type of tactics that these people, who are now holding under siege, could be using. that s a paraphrase. that gives you a sense of what capitol police was looking for. in these emails, what the emails reveal is that in the 48 hours prior to the attack on the capitol, dhs intelligence officials saw communications that were calling for violence. they saw communications that they describe as significant chatter. and added they believe some of these communications were just hyperbolic and chose not to share them with partners outside
thank you for being with us. what is your reaction to what john finer told me today? that they are ready but they are concerned about belarus? they re concerned about the deployments and options. and while diplomacy is continuing, they are prepared if he is just running out the string of diplomacy. that s a paraphrase. andrea, there s no question this is a very pivotal moment with regards to the attempt of conflict. the united states and nato allies have made clear, in writing, that what russia wants with regards to nato is not going to happen. and so, putin is really facing the decision between whether he wants to go to war or whether he wants to try and negotiate. some kind of revisions that relate to russian security. that s a good decision.
according to the letter we obtained, what trump s legal team has told the former doj officials, they are actually for now in good shape to testify to these congressional committees. trump s lawyers are interesting characters and the verbiage in this letter is a little weird. he says what trump s lawyer says is these former doj officials can testify but if congress tries to get privileged information from other former officials in my administration, then i m going to fight tooth and nail, that s a paraphrase, to keep them from testifying. so trump isn t saying he s rolling over but saying in this specific case, with these specific former officials, at this specific moment in time, he s not going to try to slow down the hill and that s a big deal. betsy woodruff, swan. thank you. two more washington plufrz
that s a paraphrase, but the import of what he was saying, multiple sources made it clear that he was making this equivalency and essentially saying don t worry about it. we do these same kinds of things too, which of course the united states does not. i mean to steve, you know, steve hall, just before you came, was saying he has said kind of similar things publicly when he talked about vladimir putin s killer. well, a lot of people are killers. a lot of people do a lot of things. it is extraordinary to hear the president saying that directly to the russian ambassador and the foreign minister. is it clear to you how that conversation was limited because the reporting that cnn had earlier cnn was only able to say that the distribution of it or the access to it was limited. do you know any more details on how it was limited? sure. well, what we know is essentially this was no longer available to people who might actually have access
