legitimate problem, and that was the trust had been eroded in many of our communities or didn t even exist in many of our communities, and that s why he formed the task force on 21st century policing which i honor co-chairing. the very first issue we dealt with was billing trust and legitimacy in our communities which is important. that is very important. there s a false narrative about police. we ve seen many instances where police get the finger pointed out them that were totally justified by police officers. we ve had a couple incidents, and just a couple, where the officers didn t act correctly and they might be prosecuted. for the millions of times police officers deal with people every day out there, 99.999%, the police are exactly right in what they do. this narrative feeds into this and that s why we have this issue. should police ever take their hand away when putting somebody in the car? i always do it. you have to act properly.
was a political decision. there were five environmental reviews done by his own state department all of which concluded there was no significant impact as a result of pipeline. one could only conclude it was political assessment and political analysis. in our view it was very unfortunate. we applaud the president, he has taken decisive action saying let s put people to work and bring low cost energy to america. steve: one the main concerns wases environmentalists thought there was a good possibility that could leak and mess up aquifers and stuff like that. we put up the map a little while ago and talked about what would you rather is a pipeline built in 1950 or 2017? which is going to be more reliable. all of the surveys showed that this new pipeline, these new pipelines were safe, right? well, absolutely. in fact, this pipeline, the keystone pipeline, the builders have agreed to 52 additional conditions beyond what the law requires to satisfy additional concerns raised by the public
he made it clear, wolf, that he was getting information from former fbi agents. now, mrs. giuliani knows better. he s a federal he was a former federal prosecutor. you don t use the former prosecutors to launder information coming from the fbi. that s basically what he said. and that s not right. we don t have a system of justice here where you take, you know, innuendo and vague announcements and put people s careers and lives and livelihood in jeopardy. we just don t do that. as you know, wolf, as a reporter and one that s been in the business of communicating for a long time, normally when you ask the fbi whether there is an investigation. 99.999% they say no comment. we re not going to tell you if we are or not.
it s not a good thing even for police officers because they have to ramp up because they have to understand that bad guys might have those. and i think if you look at it like this, if there are 30,000 gun deaths a year, a third of those are homicides, two-thirds are suicides or accidents, that s just that means that you have 300 million guns. that means 99.999% of all guns are not used in those shootings. if one gun each was used in each shooting. that means the vast majority of people are not behaving irresponsibly with guns. but it also means that it only takes a tiny fraction of people to misbehave with guns in order for us to get to this situation. so cleaning up around the edges, then, if laws are not the answer, according to you, sheriff, i don t believe i don t think you believe laws are the answer. what is? what is this answer? follow the law, follow the
think now that we ve had a media narrative that somehow police officers, especially white police officers, are racist and don t serve their community, you know, and i think that it s important for the officers throughout the country to show that that s not really true. yes, there are a few bad officers. yes, they should be held accountable, but it s not the majority and it s not the mindset of the just 99.999% of police officers that are out there. okay. now to the investigation, because police keep saying that they have this other videotape that shows something, something important, but they re not sharing this information. they also say they have thousands of leads, but they won t quite share what those leads are, any of them. why is that? well, often police departments will want to hold back information that only the actual killer or killers would know because they will get many people call in, many of the false leads are actually false
