Illinois House Republicans are launching a new platform called âRe-imagine Illinois.â
At a press conference on Wednesday, House Minority Leader Jim Durkin, joined by Representatives Mike Murphy and Avery Bourne touted several goals they want to accomplish with the about 80 bills they filed. The goals they say are: ending a culture of corruption, responsible fiscal leadership, growing jobs and opportunities for families, and ensuring public safety.
Some ideas floated were banning lobbying by legislators and a âback the badgeâ plan in response to the recent policing bill.

State Senator Doris Turner’s legislation that would expand and highlight the importance of agricultural science in school is moving forward.
Agricultural sciences don’t always count towards the minimum requirements of classes to get into a public Illinois university, this measure would change that.
The measure passed out of the Senate Higher Education Committee and will now head to the Senate for further consideration.

A UIS Assistant Coach has been named a Thirty Under 30 honoree by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
University of Illinois Springfield assistant coach Jenna Kotas just completed her second season with the Prairie Stars, where they had their best season in its NCAA history.
Kotas also won the award at Purdue Northwest when she coached there.

Governor JB Pritzker stressed the importance of getting vaccinated as soon as you can at a stop in Lincoln Today.
Pritzker said the “fastest ticket” back to normalcy is to get vaccinated.
The hospital he spoke at today, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital was also one of the 9 critical access hospitals that an extra 6,000 doses a week go to as part of a program aimed at getting residents of rural and underserved areas vaccinated.
