The Fighting Illini have put together quite a season thus far as they captured the teamâs first Big Ten tourney Championship since the 2005 season on Sunday but now the sights are set on something bigger a National Title. The journey will not be easy and here we take a look at how it may unfold.
The Illini are the top seed in the tourneyâs Midwest region and should easily dispatch of first round opponent Drexel. The Dragons are just 12-7 and wonât be able to match up with the Illiniâs physicality or athleticism. Round 2 however will not be as easy.

21 year old Jacob Mariacher of Niles, IL is being charged by the Office of the Christian County State’s Attorney Mike Havera with 1 count of Aggravated Battery, 1 count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and 1 count Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Pana Police Department received a call right before 10am Sunday that a 17 year old male was shot during an altercation. The victim was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in serious condition. Mariacher was identified at a Taylorville Taco Bell in the 600 block of N. Webster St. and taken into custody at about 1:30pm. Bond on the charges has not yet been set.
