A Springfield man could face up to 30 years in prison for sexual abuse and exploitation of a child as well as drug charges.
62 year old James L. Barry was found guilty of committing a sexual act with a child under 13 years old and exposing himself to her. He was also found with cocaine. He faces a potential sentence of 30 years, plus a 3 year supervised release.
He will have to register as a sexual predator for the rest of his life.

A friend of mine who is usually spot-on in her assessments on social media this week posted that she was in no mood to engage in the ubiquitous reflections on the one-year mark since the coronavirus pandemic truly hit home for us. It’s still too real and too raw for her; it’s still too soon.
I understand the sentiment, but for me, nothing about where we are now, compared to where we were on Friday the 13
th of March last year, is too soon. The intervening year has seemed to move in slow-motion, if at all. In some ways, time seemed to grind to a halt.
