mentioned, there has been a stage packed. walk us through if you what you want to see from fans? it seems like you d like them to be vaccine feinted.n would you like them to be in masks? we have been talking about the low vaccination rate in mississippi, one we hope climbs. as you are having these conversations, we know that vaccines have become such sa polarizing issue in this country. are you expressing hostility from fans or from the families of players who are saying, no, i don t want to take this vaccine, kind of get in your face about it? i thought we would have that more. we did not. i thought it would be, you know, i don t know, maybe 80/20 or something. and at the end it wasn t. like i said, there were kids and parents with a lot of questions and we used a lot of doctors, not just our own to help them. at the end of the day, it was everyone s individual decision. we didn t make anybody do
the 80s, do you remember the movie the princess bride, and billy crystal s character, miracle max. he came to mind especially with the infrastructure. we will soon know if the bipartisan deal is alive or dead, or as miracle max would say, it s mostly dead, but slightly alive. some say they are close to finalizing a deal, maybe as soon as tomorrow. we re down to the last couple of items and i think you will see a bill monday afternoon. we re 90% of the way there, and i feel good about getting it done this week. we have one issue outstanding. but that outstanding issue is big. how much money to spend on transportation projects. democrats want to follow what is known as the 80/20 rule, and 20% would go to public transit and
they want to hear anything about the capitol siege, they re skeptical of what went on. there but with the kind of independent swing voters they need to win back the house and maybe the senate in the midterm elections. let s talk on the other side of capitol hill, discussions taking place on infrastructure. democrats, republicans in this senate trying to finalize the text of the bipartisan infrastructure bill. they ve been trading offers but from based on what you ve been hearing in your reporting, has any real progress actually been made? it is a precarious moment for this bipartisan infrastructure deal. has progress been made? yes. are they ready to finalize the deal at this point, no. and the single biggest sticking point is the distribution of money between highways and public transit. democrats want this 80/20 ratio that goes back to the republican agera. that is not set in stone. they want the public transit money to be less than that.
sahil kapur. what is the holdup here? reporter: alex, senators say they re close to finalizing this $579 billion infrastructure deal, but they re in a standoff over one specific issue, the issue of how much to spend on public transit. now, democrats want 20% of all transportation money to be spent on public transit. they say that is the historical norm going back to the 1980s, the so-called 80/20 rule. republicans want a little lets spent on public transit and more spent on highways. the two parties are kind of logjamed over that issue, and until that gets resolved they cannot proceed and move forward. that s the main issue. it is not the only final detail to be resolved heading into this weekend. there remain details to be hammered out over the issue of broadband, over the issue of what to do with unspent covid relief funds and over the question of labor provisions as it relates to the davis bacon act and construction of these projects. this package as well as the $3.5
i have confidence that we can get to 60. i want to be one of the 60. i talked to other republicans that want to be a yes if they can get there. what i would like to see is preservation of the traditional formula. this is sort of inside highway bill stuff. the formula where it is 90% split, 90, 10% split, states getting 90%, grants being the other 10%. 80/20 between infrastructure and transit. but everything i have seen, there s strong emphasis on traditional infrastructure and things that aren t traditional are still hard infrastructure, so i think it is a good faith effort. i think a lot of people want to get to yes. i heard from a lot of republicans who are still linking this bill with the reconciliation package that democrats are working on separately. are you watching that $3.5 trillion out of the corner
