GREENWOOD, Ind. – Aspire Economic Development and Chamber Alliance has announced that, in partnership with the Greenwood Economic Development Commission, it is conducting a study of remote workers in Greenwood.
“We’re asking residents if they’re working from home, how long they expect to do so, and what types of local businesses they are utilizing during this period,” explained Aspire Vice President of Economic Development Amanda Rubadue. “We want to know how many residents are working remotely and the impact it has on services such as broadband, parks, and even the local coffee shops.”
She added that site selectors from companies looking into locating in Greenwood have started asking for information about residents working remotely during the COVID pandemic.

NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Members of the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) served an arrest warrant for murder and arson, on Tuesday at around 11:20 p.m., during a planned traffic stop on Michael Hubbard, 37.
The arrest stems from a lengthy investigation that started in May 2019 involving the death of Robert Head, in Country Squire Lakes. The victim was set on fire in a vehicle and later succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office spent almost two years gathering evidence and conducting numerous interviews where they were able to establish probable cause for the arrest of the suspect.

JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. – Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) were busy Tuesday rescuing at least two drivers who had ventured into high water.
Just after dawn, an SUV thought it was a good idea to drive around barricades and across high water on State Road 250. His vehicle went off the roadway and JCSO says he was lucky he did not flip all the way over. The driver was issued a citation. The Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department’s boat brought the man to high ground.
A DNR conservation officer’s airboat helped deputies rescue a driver on Tuesday afternoon, south of Cortland. The man’s truck window had to be broken to get him out.
