they re cowards. they arm themselves to go out and inflict this type of damage and when they are confronted with someone willing to bring the fight to them, law enforcement, in this case a citizen that did an amazing thing, and they do exactly that. they are straight cowards. they aren t willing to battle out with somebody who is willing to meet them head-to-head on what they are trying to do. jon: the indications are that he had been busted while he was in the air force, even jailed for domestic abuse on not only his wife but his child. what does that tell you about the mind set of this shooter? he has got a violent individual. i have read some things about other girlfriends who said he stalked them. i spoke with the local atf head here in tulsa and asked him about the ability to buy the firearms. the form 4473. there is a series of questions on there that would prohibit
there that fall into this. one is have you ever been convicted of a felony? if you check no, atf basically uses this form, 4473, to do that criminal background check and a lot of times those records will not match up. in other words, you won t get a military conviction on an ncic printout to do the background check that atf does. there s also another question on there that goes to mental stability. have you ever committed to a state facility? and if you answer no to that question it really is sort of on the honor system because of hip pa laws atf has no way to check the veracity of that question if you answer yes or no. how do you prevent people from slipping through the cracks? that s a good question. really the only way, when you purchase a firearm and you use this form 4473, basically all it s doing is checking your criminal history to 345make sur
than a church in a small community on a sunday. that s what wlur seeing more and more of. he just wanted to kill a lot of people. but perhaps he knew somebody there or had some kind of issue with somebody in the church and that s why he chose that location. we just don t know right now. there s a lot of speculation, but i think within a relatively shortly period of time more and more information will become available and we ll get a pretty clear picture. art, the gunman we learned has a violent history. he was convicted through a court-martial. because of that you say it s possible it wouldn t be flagged in a background check to buy a gun. explain that. well, whenever you buy a weapon from a federally licensed dealer, you have to fill out what s called an atf form 4473. and on that form there s a lot of questions about your pedigree information, your date of birth, height, weight, your driver s license, where do you live. and there s two questions on
form 4473. put up this picture. in the photograph his finger pointing up, are you hearing anything any significance in that? i think there is significance to the picture so i m going to analyze the press conference as well. what was telling to me was the fbi continues to have primary jurisdiction and not ruling out terrorism. social media is clearly showing pictures like this. he is in a scarf that some may interpret as being middle eastern, the gesture may be one aligned with gestures seen on other isis photographs. i m being purposefully caution for two reasons, one we need to verify and validate who he is, he s apparently talking, and what his background is. and secondly as we see in a lot of these cases there are
that are prohibited to begin with. if you look at people who lie on the form that you have to complete when you buy a firearm, it s called a 4473. in 2010, 80,000 people lied on that form. they didn t walk out of the store with a firearm because they were denied, but only 44 of those 80,000 people were prosecuted. we see time and time again that police officers at the state, local, and federal level do an excellent job of stopping individuals with firearms that committed crimes that when we get to the prosecution stage, charges are being reduced, and those people continue to go back out on to the streets and commit crimes again. so the polling on this shows that a majority of americans, 57%, don t think that the president s executive action on guns will actually reduce gun deaths in this country.
