on u you had george w. bush spend money like it was going out of style. he took 155 billion dollar surplus and turned it into a trillion dollar deficit and doubled the national debt. he was a big government republican. on foreign policy, he was a big internationalist, but he was also sort of a unilateralist in that everybody had to follow his view and richard pearl s view. a big spreader of american yi ideals around the world and a lot of republicans quite agreed with. i just i think basically what i m saying i think they will cave to trump. i think we are going to have a 30 trillion dollar national debt and unfortunately people are so excited to be in power. as i found under brush they
massive substantive and legislative issue. tim carney, i think the person i d like to be least right now in washington, d.c. is paul ryan who has spent his entire life being a deficit hawk. but you look at what the president is promising, which is more coverage, costing less, and you look at the 20 trillion dollar debt and you look at these protests, which republicans, i don t think, are going to be lulled into a false sense of security like democrats were in 2009. and suddenly, paul ryan is thinking, man, how do i make all of these numbers add up? how do we stop a 20 trillion dollar debt to becoming a 30 trillion dollar debt? president trump is making paul ryan s job harder. he is saying you can have more coverage with less cost to the taxpayer and more choice. whether trump thinks government is a magic wand to do that or the market is going to magically do that, i don t know. but when you talk to conservatives on the hill and conservatives in think tank world, they wince every ti
if it is a bad bill are they wrong to vote against it? i m not blaming the republicans for voting against it or democrats voting for it. the process in the congress is a flawed process in which there s such a premium made to line-up behind it. i don t believe for a second that no republican anywhere thought there were any good things in the bill. or every democrat thought it was the right thing to do. when you have something as big and complex as 1/6 of the economy you have the cost issues, 30 trillion dollar in medicare you have to talk about these things and try on a bipartisan basis and i think both parties are at all the. we are going to revisit it. i hope some of the people in tennessee, california, oregon, montana have got things to contribute can be a part of it the next time around. greta: i you are a part of
