collins in washington. reporter: good morning, christine. we are now learning that former president trump and his legal team are considering releasing the surveillance footage from those several hours when fbi agents were at mar-a-lago conducting that search of course of his property looking for classified information that they believe he took with him from his time in the white house to when he went to mar-a-lago as he left the day he was inaugurated. there were major questions of course this entire justice department investigation over how this information was handled and what exactly was taken down there and we re now told that despite that day when fbi agents showed up and they asked the trump team on the ground to turn off the surveillance cameras, they did not do so and they are now in control of several hours of footage of them actually being there conducting this search. and we re told that they are now considering releasing it, though there are some inside the form
involving the doj s investigation of classified documents at mar-a-lago. the trump team has one more hour now to officially weigh in on unsealing the documents before a judge hears the case this afternoon. the doj is opposing their release. various media organizations including cnn are requesting that they be unsealed. also happening this morning, the trump organization s former chief financial officer allen weisselberg is expected to plead guilty to a 15-year tax fraud scheme. the new york times reports that justice department has subpoenaed white house records in its investigation into january 6th. that s separate from the mar-a-lago search. and in georgia, rudy giuliani appeared before an atlanta-area grand jury for roughly six hours as the target, a target of the probe into efforts to subvert the election there. we want to circle back, though, to the case of the documents obtained at mar-a-lago. short time ago i spoke with donald trump s former impeachment lawyer davi
but there is more good news on gas prices. we begin with a court showdown over whether we should get to see over how the fbi secured its search warrant for mar-a-lago. next hour, lawyers for the justice department and several media organizations will argue inside a federal courtroom in florida. at issue, whether the affidavit, the doj filed to support the application for that unprecedented warrant should be made public or whether it should stay secret. the document contains sensitive details known only to the government, including the identity of witnesses who cooperated with federal investigators. the justice department argues making those details public would hand deliver its investigative road map to team trump, and perhaps threaten the safety of those witnesses. let s begin with jessica. the justice department says keep it public. we ll see if the judge agrees. keep it private, excuse me. reporter: that s right. we ll see how the judge sides with this when the hearing s
