“After the Summit ended, people from across the city had thronged the ITPO complex, Bhairon Marg and near Bharat Mandapam gate 6 on Monday. there was huge traffic jam at 8.30 pm,” an official said.
To understand the challenges faced by the force, The Indian Express spoke to Special Commissioners in the Delhi Police, who were appointed venue commanders for the event and led hundreds of officials and personnel during the three days.
On its part, the MCD insisted that no dogs were harmed in the process. “This is a routine practice, dogs are brought for the purpose of neutering all the time. Those that were picked up were fed and released at their respective locations after sterilisation,” MCD officials stated.
All these items were packed in a sandook (chest) with brass detailing. Sources said the sandook holds a special place in Indian cultural, besides being an epitome of exquisite workmanship. The chest was handcrafted using sheesham (Indian rosewood), valued for its durability and grain pattern, they said.
Meanwhile, L-G VK Saxena, who had been watching the arrival of dignitaries at Rajpath on TV, ensured that during the 90-second interval between arrivals of each dignitary, the floor was mopped and dried, said officials.
