They are the names written in history books: Armstrong, Aldrin, Lovell, Chaffee, Bean, Cernan, Anders, Griffin, Carr. Their stories of NASA s Apollo program in the 1960s and 70s are the stuff of legend and lore.
The telling has mostly come from the astronauts themselves, or members of Mission Control, and occasionally from the astronauts spouses.
But there was another group who had a front-row seat to history. This is the story of Apollo from some of its most wide-eyed observers: the children of those brave Americans who first went into space and those who helped get them there.

The story of former Shreveport serial killer Danny Rolling will be featured on ABC s 20/20 Friday at 8 p.m.
Rolling killed five Florida college students over four days in 1990 as well as three others in his hometown of Shreveport.
The two-hour episode has an exclusive interview with Cindy Dobbin, who gave a Crime Stoppers tip to authorities leading them to Rolling. Dobbin tells why she suspected Rolling and how she was certain he was also responsible for the then-unsolved murders in Shreveport.
“20/20” also has the first interview with Scott Grissom, whose father, sister and son were victims of Rolling in Shreveport. The episode includes interviews with family members of the Gainesville victims, as well as authorities who worked on the case
