WOODBRIDGE – The Woodbridge Township clerk’s office has certified nine people as candidates for the Primary Election to be held on June 8, ahead of the General Election in November.
Up for election are Woodbridge Township Council ward seats. The remaining four at-large seats will be selected in two years.
Five council members are seeking re-election – Nancy Bader-Drumm (D–1); Harold “Howie” R. Bauer Jr. (D–2); Corey S. Spillar (D-3); Virbhadra “Viru” Patel (D-4); and Debbie Meehan (D-5).
The challengers in the November election will be Ken Gardner (D-1) and John Vrtaric (Rep-1); Paul Lund Jr. (R-2); John Masculin (R-3); and Rocco Genova (R-5).

The Terra Nova Flower Club of Edison will hold its annual flower sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 22 at the Thomas Edison Tower, 37 Christie St., Edison. Rain date is May 23.
There will be an assortment of annuals, perennials, house plants, herbs and honey from a local beekeeper for sale.
Current COVID-19 guidelines will be observed.

WOODBRIDGE – The township reported 160 new COVID-19 cases over a four-day period, which brings the total number of cases to 10,388, according to Mayor John McCormac in his coronavirus report on April 5.
Forty-nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported for April 1, 48 new cases were reported for April 2, 36 new cases were reported for April 3, and 27 new cases were reported for April 4.
The number of COVID-19 cases include East Jersey State Prison and a number of related state facilities in the Avenel section of the township. The state reported zero new cases from their facilities over the four-day period. The total number of cases at the facilities remain at 840.
