Local roundup: Hanover boys lax sweeps Lebanon Jack Badams Modified: 4/22/2021 10:27:48 PM LEBANON The Hanover High boys lacrosse team built a 3-1 lead after one quarter and an 8-1 advantage by halftime, using that as a foundation for a 15-6 win over Lebanon on Thursday afternoon at Lebanon High School. Jack Badams netted a season-high six goals and two assists for the Marauders (3-0), who earned their second win over the next-door neighbors in three days. Brett Simmons (three goals, two assists) and Sawyer Brown (two goals, one assist) also had big days on offense. Hanover coach Ryan Gardner credited Brendan Logan’s play in midfield, vacuuming up 15 ground balls to help the Marauders maintain control. Logan, Seamus Murphy, Angus Frew and DH Hendrick accounted for Hanover’s other scores, and Danny Pitiger made seven saves.

Lebanon s Porter commits to UT-Chattanooga

Lebanon High s all-state point guard  Addie Grace Porter has accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Porter, a four-year starter for  Coach Cory Barrett at Lebanon High, helped lead the Devilettes to the 2021 TSSAA Class 3A state finals and a record of 30-5. During the 2020-2021 season, she averaged 16.5 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per contest leading the Devilettes to a record of 30-5 and a runner-up finish in the Class 3A state championship. As a senior, she was District 9AAA regular season & tournament MVP as well as MVP of the Region 5AAA tournament. Porter was also voted all state tournament.

Local roundup: Lebanon girls tennis overtakes Bow Kaeley Skakalski Modified: 4/19/2021 10:25:34 PM LEBANON The Lebanon High girls tennis team got its season off to a flying start on Monday, stopping the state runner-up the last time the NHIAA had a Division II tournament. Kaeley Skakalski won a singles tiebreaker and fought off five match points in her doubles match with partner Keira Hines, giving the D-III Raiders two key points in a 6-3 win over D-II Bow at the Carter Community Building Association courts. Crisi Patel also contributed wins in singles and doubles for Lebanon (1-0). Bow reached the finals of the D-II tourney in 2019, losing to Portsmouth.

Wilson Co Championships wrap up Saturday

Pole vault finals held Friday - LEBANON The pole vault finals of the 2021 Wilson County Track & Field Championships were held Friday afternoon at Lebanon High s Clifton Tribble Field / Danny Watkins Stadium. Lebanon s Green Hill s Ella Pine tied for top honors in the girls division at 7-6. Interrupted last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 version of the Wilson County Track & Field Championships have been scheduled Saturday, April 17 at Wilson Central High. All other events are slated Saturday morning at Wilson Central High. Admission is $5 per person. The following field events will open at 10 AM and will be held in this order:
